After three months of genocide, the people of Palestine need us more than ever. 

Since October, the Palestinian people have been clear: with humanitarian aid heavily blocked, now is the time to build our solidarity movements and the people power necessary to stop the genocide and end Israeli apartheid and occupation. It’s through the activism, advocacy, pressure campaigns, and consistent presence of everyday people in the streets that we are beginning to challenge Canadian and international institutions shielding the genocidal Israeli government from accountability.

Resistance to oppression will always be met with repression and repression makes this work expensive. In Ottawa, we are seeing the growing criminalization of peaceful protests and civil disobedience. We are increasingly seeing attacks like the unjust application of noise bylaws against activists and community members who show up for Palestine and participate in protests against Israeli genocide and Canada’s complicity with the apartheid state of Israel.

By creating a community defense fund, we can counter this repression and solidify our movement for justice.

When you donate, you help make sure that no one bears the financial costs of repression alone and you send the message that we are too many and too committed to be silenced.

Send the message to hard-working frontline activists that the people of the city are with them and that they are not alone.

All funds raised will go toward:

• Any future costs from bylaw tickets issued for alleged violations by those using sound amplification devices (including megaphone) use at Ottawa actions/protests;

• Legal defense and bail costs related to arrests and charges that may occur at Palestine solidarity protests and actions; and

• Other costs identified by PYM, IJV and L4P as essential to maintaining a healthy and growing Palestine solidarity movement in Ottawa.
